ICC Americas announced two significant hires to drive the long term development of cricket in the USA. Former Sri Lankan Wicket Keeper, PubuduDassanayake has been named as USA National Coach, whilst Eric Parthen has been appointed Project Manager to lead the implementation of the strategic plan to help grow the sport in the USA.
The USA Women's Selection Panel has today announced a squad of 22 players to take part in the development camp in Philadelphia from September 9th -11th.
India will play two T20I matches against West Indies in Florida later this month, BCCI president Anurag Thakur announced on Tuesday, after the board's working committee meeting in Mumbai. The matches will be played on August 27 and 28 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill.
The 2016 HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign will break new ground on Thursday, 28 July when Guyana Amazon Warriors faces the Barbados Tridents in a night game (starting at 7pm) in Central Broward Stadium, Fort Lauderdale. All six teams will feature in the 10,000 capacity stadium across four days.
The first-ever World Cricket League event in the USA, which will be played from October 29 to 5 November, will see the host play off against Bermuda, Denmark, Italy, Jersey and Oman in the six-team tournament. The top-two sides will advance to the ICC World Cricket League Division 3, while the bottom two will be relegated to the ICC World Cricket League Division 5. A pathway event to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and Test cricket, all teams understand the stakes and are keen to perform well on the global stage.
We would like to sincerely thank the many players, parents, coaches, umpires, scorers and volunteers who helped to deliver eight successful USA Cricket Combines across the country over the past 3 months. Over 700 people participated in or contributed to this important initiative which is a great response. In the short term, there will be two upcoming opportunities for USA representation at both men's senior and U17 levels.
Over the past 12 months a significant amount of positive activity has taken place within USA cricket. This report, which has been prepared for next week’s ICC’s Annual Conference, summaries the progress made over the past year.
